knock it off
“knock it off!”
Angie: Sorry I’m late. My car broke down.(Angie:
Betty: Knock it off! You always have excuses. (betty:
Michael: I’m certainly going to beat you. I will kick your sorry ass and make you beg for mercy. (Michael:
Daniel: Knock it off! You are just bluffing.(Daniel:
Tessa: Are you dating Brad?
Gina: None of your business. (Gina:
Tessa: Come on, come on. Tell me. (Tessa:
Gina: No, Not a chance.( Gina:
Tessa: I’ll give you ten dollars if you tell me. (Tessa:
Gina: Knock it off!!1 (Gina:
除了knock it off,美國人也常說cut it out. 如果停止的對象是謊言或者廢話,cut it out 還可以用cut the crap來代替。比如:
Lisa: Where were you last night? I called you a hundred times . (Lisa:
Damon: I was in a meeting with my boss and coworkers. Had to turn my cell phone off.(Damon:
Lisa: Cut the crap! Your boss just called and asked why you missed last night’s meeting. (Lisa:
和cut the crap緊密相關的另個一短語是cut to the chase, 指直接進入正題. 由于追逐戲大多是動作片里最最好看的部分,cut to the chase就漸漸演變為get to the good part9直接跳到關鍵部分的意思。
Mike: You are the moist beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. You are extremely smart and talented. You are also… (mike:
Tamara: Cut to the chase, will you? What do you want from me? (Tamara:
需要注意的是,knock it off、cut the crap和cut to the chase口氣都比較沖,是不太禮貌的用語,跟長輩對話時應該盡量避免。
