to split hairs (over something)吹毛求疵
頭發人人都有（即使是光頭也曾經有過），是我們最熟悉的身體一部分。它和眼睛鼻子一樣，往往和作譬喻，在英文成語中普遍使用。split hairs字面上是將毛發再加以細分，實際上常用來比喻對小事做不必要的要求或追究。

很多女孩子希望自己能有一頭美麗的卷發。就會上沙龍請設計師將頭發燙卷；不過，curl one’s hair有另一種負面的比喻，甚至還有“令人毛骨悚然‘的意思，make someone’s hair stand on end. （讓人毛發直豎）也有相同的涵義。
