The Goalkeeper’s Instinct
A man is walking down a street in london when he hears a woman screaming and detects a faint smell of burning in the air. He runs down the street and around a corner he runs down the street and around a corner he sees a huge group of people standing and watching a blazing building.
On the tenth floor of the building a woman, clutching a bundle to her chest is leaning out of a window screaming for someone to save hr baby.
The man steps forward and calls up to the woman,” Throw down your baby and I’ll catch it!”
“No! No!” the woman shouts back.”you might miss or drop my baby and she’ll be killed!”
“No, I won’t! shouts the man.” I am David seaman. I was the goalkeeper for English in Euro1996 and I didn’t miss a match all through the tournament. In all that time I only let the ball into my net a few times.”
“What？ Hardlyever/” calls the woman.
“Yes!” shouts back the man.”Every football player in the land agrees that I was the best keeper in the competition and I’m now worth over 3 million pounds”. And with that he adopts the classic goalkenns. Body slightly bent forward at the waist and with his arms stretched downwards at a slight angle away from his body, with palms facing forward.
“OK! Screams the woman.”I’ll trust you. I’ve no choice！ Here she comes!”
So, with the flames roaring all around her, thewoman throws the baby from the window. However, the edge of the baby’s shawl catches on the woman’s watch with the result that the child goes spinning off to one side, tumbling head over heels and with her little arms and legs flailing.
The woman screams and the crowd gasps, all sure that the baby will perish because she will fall out of reach of the man.
The man remains motioness as the child descends spinning and tumbling futher and futher away from him. Then when the baby is only a few feet from hitting the ground the man dives a full 30 feet across the pavement, catches the baby in his outstretched right, pulls her in towards his chest and shields her body with his left hand and arm. He hits the ground heavily on his right side arm. He hits the ground heavily on his right side and lies motionless on the pavement for a few seconds. Tghen, slowly, he raises himself to his feet and turns to face the crowd and everyone sees that the child is alive.
The crowd is owe-struck. Then the corwd erupts with cheers and the woman, still in danger herself, nearly faints with relief. The man, still clutching the child to his chest ih his right arm, waves to the crowd of onlookers to acknowledge their appreciation.
Then, slowly and gracefully he taps the baby twice and throws her at the crowd.

她就要被摔死了！“
“不！我不會的！”那個人喊道：“我是大衛，西曼。我是1996年歐洲杯英
格蘭孤的守門員，在整個賽季中我參加了所有的比賽。在比賽中，只有幾次皮球通過了我的十指關。”
“什么？”你幾乎沒有失過手嗎？”那位婦女說道。

那位婦女尖叫起來，人群也驚叫著。所有人都認為嬰兒肯定會被摔死，
因為她將摔到西曼夠不到的地方
嬰兒旋轉熱著往下落，離那人越來越遠。可他卻一動不動。就在只差幾英
嬰兒就要摔到地面時，那人縱身一躍，躍出整整30英尺遠，越過人行道路，用張開的右手接住了嬰兒，將她攬入懷中，用左臂護住她的身體。他自己身體的右側重重地摔在了地上。在人行道路上一動不動地躺了一會兒后，他站起身轉向人群，每個人都看到嬰兒活著。
人們吃驚地看著，爾后爆發出歡呼聲。那位婦女仍然身處險境。她寬慰得差
點昏了過去。那個人向圍觀的人群招手，向對他表示贊賞的人們致意。這時，他仍然用右臂把嬰兒緊緊地摟在懷里。
然后，他慢慢地、動作優美地把嬰兒拍了兩下，一手把她扔向人群。
