We Are Both reduced to Poverty
One day an out of work mime is visiting the zoo and aftempts to earn some money as a street performer. Unfortunately, as soom as he starts to draw a crowd, a zookeeper grabs him and drogs him into his office.
The zookeeper explains to the mime that the zoo’s most popular attraction, a gorlla has died suddenly and the keeper fears that attendance at the zoo will fall off. He offers the mime a job to dress up as the gorilla until they can get another one. The mime accepts.
Next morning the mime puts on the gorilla suit and enters the cage before the crowd comes. He discovers that it’s a great job. He can sleep if he wants, play and amuse people. He can sleep if he wants, play and amuse people. He draws biggerfcorwds than he ever did as a mime. However, eventually the crowds tire of him and he tires of just swinging on tires. He notices that people are paying more attention to the lion in the cage next to his. Not wanting to lose the aftention of his audience, he climbs to the top of his cage, crowls across a partition, and dangles on the top of the lion’s cage. Pf course, this makes the lion furious, but the crowd loves it.
At the end of the day the zookeeper comes and gives mime a raise for being such a good afttaction. Well this goes on for some time, the mime keeps taunting the lion, the crowds grow larger, and his salary keeps going up. Then one terrible slips and falls. The mime is terrified. The lion gathers itself and prepares to pounce. The mime Is so scared that he begins to run round and round the cage with he begins to run round and round the vcage with the lion close behind. Finally, the mime starts screaming and yelling, “ Help, Help me!” but the lion is quick and pounces. The mime soon finds himself flat on his back looking up at the angry lion and the lion says,” Shut up, you idiot! Do you want to get us both fired?”
同是天涯淪落人
一天，一個(gè)失業(yè)的演小丑的人來到動(dòng)物園，想作為一個(gè)街頭藝人，掙一些錢。不幸的是，他剛把人們吸引到身邊，動(dòng)物園看守人就抓住他，們把他拖到了辦公室。動(dòng)物園看守人對小丑解釋道：動(dòng)物園中最受人也是最吸引人的動(dòng)物——一只大猩猩突然死了，他拍到動(dòng)物園的人數(shù)會(huì)因此而減少，所以愿提供給小丑一份工作，由小丑裝扮成大猩猩，一直到他們能弄來另一只大猩猩為止。小丑接受了這份工作。
次日，在人們到動(dòng)手園之前，小丑披上了大猩猩的皮，進(jìn)了籠子。他發(fā)現(xiàn)這個(gè)工作相當(dāng)不錯(cuò)。想睡覺就可以睡，還可以玩耍和取悅觀眾。比以前做小丑吸引了更多的觀眾。然而，人們最終對他失去了興趣，而他也厭倦了總是在輪胎上打秋千。他發(fā)現(xiàn)旁邊籠子里的獅子吸引了更多人的注意。由于不愿失去觀眾對自己的注意，他爬到籠子頂上，爬過一個(gè)隔板，倒掛著，在獅子籠頂上擺來擺去。當(dāng)然，這使得獅子十分生氣，但人們喜愛這種表演。
這一天結(jié)束后，動(dòng)物園看守人給小丑加了薪，因?yàn)樗谋硌莅讶藗兩钌畹匚×恕４撕螅〕蟛粩嗟靥舳邯{子，來觀看的人越來越多，小丑的薪水也一直有所增加。這種情況持續(xù)了一段時(shí)間。一天可怕的事情發(fā)生了。當(dāng)小丑這天又一次倒掛著，在氣急敗壞的兒子媒的頭頂上晃來晃去時(shí)，突然一滑，掉進(jìn)了獅子籠子里。小丑十分害怕。獅子憋足了勁兒，準(zhǔn)備向小丑撲去。小丑害怕極了，在亂子里繞圈跑著，獅子緊緊地在他后邊追著。終于，小丑開始大叫起來：“救命，救命啊”可是獅子動(dòng)作敏捷地一下將他撲倒在地。小丑發(fā)現(xiàn)自己平躺在地上，望著上邊生氣的獅子。獅子說：“閉嘴，你這傻瓜！你想讓我們倆都被炒魷魚嗎？”
