對不起，我們不能讓人登機，你的美國入境簽證已經過期了。
P: Can’t I just get a new visa in Los Angeles? 我不能在洛杉磯辦理一個新的簽證嗎？
A: I’m afraid not. You have to apply from outside the US.恐怕不能，你必須在美國境外申請簽證。
如果使用了just這個詞，就可以在向某人詢問或者說什么時使語氣變得很客氣。
如果要說的話會使對方感到不愉快，我們可以用Ｉ’m afraid not 這種表達而是不簡單地說no,這樣可以緩和語氣。
OMissed Commection 錯過轉機
P: I just got in from Tokyo, and I ‘ve missed my connection to Chicago. Is there a seat available on the next flight?
我剛從東京來，錯過了到芝加哥的班機。下一班機有空位嗎？
A: One moment., please I’ll see if there’s a seat in business class.
清稍等。我查一下商務艙是否還有座位。
P: Look, I have to be in Chicago by ten. I don’t have to sit in business class. It there’s a seat in economy. I’ll take it.
我必須１０點之前到芝加哥。我不一定坐商務艙，如果經濟艙有位子也可以。
