Stranger : Yes , if you are a new student you will register tomorrow .

Cultural  Background     第五步     了解文化

美國的大學采用名副其實的學分制。學員每成功修完一門課程便得到若干學分，當考取到足夠的學分便可畢業，至于畢業所需學分多少則視個別院校的規定，但一般需要120至140個學分不等。由于學分制度關系，美國大學的修業期是沒有一定期限的，學員可以在三四年間取得學位資格，也可于十年內完成其大學課程。在學分制的影響下，辦理入學申請手續在時間上也具有彈性，有意去美國留學的學生可以在一月、六月、七月及九月申請入讀，當然，這也視各院校規而定。美國大學生是根據其考取的學分去區分身份，初入學者至考取24個學分的學員被稱為Freshman , 取得25到55個學分便屬于Sophomore , 56至89個學分者稱為Junior , 而90個學分或以上則屬于Senior 。
