美國酒店結賬，現在比較普遍的做法是刷預授權，即card authorization , 或card verification , 但部分人還是會習慣叫它imprint .刷過之后會凍結相應金額作為押金，但錢并沒有劃走。退費時，會在刷一次卡做預授權完成authorization complete , 把應付的費用從凍結的金額中扣除，余額解凍。部分美國酒店式通過上網來預訂的，需要的只是你的信用卡號碼。在辦理入住手續時酒店回要求你出示信用卡，酒店進行確認有效即可。退房時用該卡進行結算。

美國酒店是需要付小費的。該如何付？付多少呢？一般來說：

1.       酒店清潔工（House keeping）， 每天早上出門前在床頭柜上放上1美元或2美元。

2.       酒店行李員（Bellboy）幫你提行李到房間，給2美元到10美元。寄存行李的時候不用給，去的時候大概一件行李給1美元。

停車（Valet Parking）的餐館和酒店有停車服務。就是你開到門口，把車鑰匙給他們，他們給你一個小條子做記錄然后幫你停車。取車時，他們按照條子把車給你開到門口，這時給3美元。如果你開的是保時捷，你可以在給他鑰匙的時候給個5美元，保證他對你的車珍惜得不行。
