AA制是指結(jié)賬時各人均或各自付賬的做法。AA為拉丁文縮寫，含義是“各”，“各個”的意思。關(guān)于AA有很多種說法：
“AA”是“Algebraic Average”的縮寫，意思是“代數(shù)平均”。意思可以從字面看出，就是按人頭平均分擔賬單的意思。這個意思首先來自英國人對荷蘭人的偏見，因為古荷蘭人就是平分賬單的，英國人認為荷蘭人沒有紳士風(fēng)度。
還有個說法，“AA”是英文“ Acting Appointment”的縮寫。16~17世紀時的荷蘭和威尼斯，是海上商品貿(mào)易和早期資本主義的發(fā)跡之地。因為商人的流動性很強，一個人請別人的客，被請的人說不定這輩子再也碰不到了，為了大家不吃虧，彼此分攤便是最好的選擇了。而荷蘭人因其精明、凡事都要分清楚，逐漸形成了let’s go Dutch （讓我們做荷蘭人）的俗語。而幽默的美國人將這句話引申成為“AA制”。
還有香港人把AA作為All Apart 的縮寫，意為“全部分開”，很形象！
