      A person who has good manners will not push through a crowd , but wait quietly for his turn to pass . He will not interrupt people when they are talking . He will not say anything that will hurt other’s feelings . All these are called good manners , which show a man of high standing .

      一個有禮貌的人不會推推搡搡地擠過人群，而是安靜地等待，輪到他的時候才過去。他不會再別人講話時插嘴。他不會說任何傷害別人感情的話。這些都是文明禮貌的表現，是一個人身份的標志。

在歐美國家，人們會參加很多聚會來擴大交際圈。與陌生人交往，我們交不了介紹自己，或者像別人介紹自己的家人或朋友，在做正式的介紹時，英語常常遵循以下原則；

（1）       將年幼者先介紹給年長者；

（2）       將職位低的先介紹給職位高的；

（3）       如果雙方是同輩，則要先將男性介紹給女性。如果兩人地位和年齡相差不大，用非正式的介紹即可。

介紹的過程中，被介紹人務必記住對方的姓名，這樣，別人有一種被尊重的感覺。如果你真的沒記住或者沒有聽清楚對方的姓名或因對方的姓名太長，要真誠地請對方再說一遍，或者干脆問對方如何拼寫。

在正式場合下，一定要說出自己完整的名字（full name）。并且，人們往往會通報自己的職業及家鄉國籍等。當然，非正式場合，如朋友生日聚會，人們常常只說出自己的名字（given name 或the first name ）。有些人為拉近與朋友的距離，干脆說出自己的小名（childhood name）如Bob、Judy 、Lisa等。
