優朗英語成人英語培訓的張同學今天學會了一個新句型——unless。unless的意思是“除非...”，含有交換條件的意味，在英語里就是用這個句型來表達，例如：“除非你答應不說出去，我才要告訴你這個秘密。”

 

句型解析：

 

1.表達要避免出現某種結果所需要的條件

unless具有否定含義，常譯為“除非...”，“如果不...就不...”。unless在意思上比較接近if ... not , 所以兩者常可交替使用，只是unless 的語氣比if ... not 重。但也不是左右情況下，unless都可以與if ... not 互換。

 

You will fail the exam unless you study harder . = If you don't study harder ,you will fail the exam.

除非你更加用功，否則你考試將會不及格。

 

2.表示假設一種反面情況

如果unless引導的從句本身是否定形式，unless就不能由if...not 所替代。

 

Don't consult a dictionary unless you really don't understand the word .

除非你確實不懂那個字的意思，不然不要查字典。

 

情景會話:

I'm afraid I will not pass the exam next month .

You will fail the exam unless you study harder .

我恐怕過不了下個月的考試。

除非你更加用功，否則你考試將會不及格。

 

Why not go to the party with us ?

I will not go to the party unless he incites me .

何不和我們一起去派對呢？
