這個引喻可以指人也可指物。指人時是說雙方有共同的見解或者愛好。又可用于下列句子中：be a man after my own heart.

有人說這條成語源于古老的法語 en gogues,另有人說源于to goggle(轉(zhuǎn)動眼珠)一詞。
