The new school term
The new school term has commenced today. At 8 o’clock in the morning, the opening ceremony was held in the lecture hall. The principal gave us conventional instruction to how to behave ourselves during the new term.

A morning-glory
When I got up this morning, found two beautiful purple morning-glories blooming with silvery dew on the petals. The morning-glories reminded me of its exact English name. A morning-glory is the morning glory.

牽牛花
我早晨起床的時(shí)候，發(fā)現(xiàn)了兩朵開(kāi)得很漂亮的紫色牽牛花，花瓣上還滾著銀白色的露珠。它使我想起它的英文名字，牽牛花就象征著早晨的光輝。

Cosmos
Owing to the last night’s typhoon the walls of my house were blown down and the cosmos in the garden which I had carefully reared was spoilt. The paper says that the street trees at Ren Ai Road were almost uprooted.

由于昨晚的臺(tái)風(fēng)，我家房子的圍墻都被吹倒了，花園里一直經(jīng)我細(xì)心培養(yǎng)的波斯菊也損失慘重。報(bào)上說(shuō)仁愛(ài)路人行道上的樹(shù)幾乎都被連根拔起。

A fire
A fire broke out near by. Four houses were burnt to the ground. The wind was strong, and the water supply was poor. It was said that the fire was probably caused by careless handing of a kerosene heater. Have to check all the kerosene beaters in my house. My house luckily escaped the fire,but we should take more precautions against fire in the future.

火災(zāi)
附近著火了，有四幢房子都燒得精光，風(fēng)很大，而且水的供應(yīng)又不足。聽(tīng)說(shuō)起火的原因大概是煤油爐的使用不慎所引起的。我必須檢查房子里所有的煤油爐。我們的房子饒幸逃過(guò)一劫，但以后我們應(yīng)該要采取更多的預(yù)防措施。
